The Charity of the Year Award sponsored by Clarke Willmott was won by Taunton Association for the Homeless
Taunton Association for the Homeless (TAH) was established by local people in 1973 and from humble beginnings (no staff, no properties & no income) has become a nationally respected organisation, specialising in the housing and support of vulnerable single homeless people.
TAH now houses and supports over 500 people a year with a range of services including hostels (for people that come straight from the streets), a young person’s project (16 to 25s), supported shared housing and a rent deposit bond scheme that enables single people to access the private rented sector.
TAH works very closely with statutory and voluntary agencies, local businesses and local schools to ensure people get the support that they need and deserve. TAH now employs 47 staff who, with a number of volunteers, provide high quality housing and ensure residents’ support needs are identified and met by TAH or others.
