How do I enter?
All you need to do is complete the online entry form, making sure that you understand the criteria for the category/ies that you wish to enter.
- Choose your category
- Enter a statement of up to 800 words explaining why your business merits an award
- Highlight up to six key points selling your company to the judges
- Attach up to five pieces of evidence to support your application – attachments can be up to a maximum of 2MB each.
- Attach the company logo

Does my business qualify?
All businesses entering the awards must be based within the administrative boundaries of Somerset or one of the following North Somerset postcodes:
BA3, BS21, 22, 23, 24, 39, 40, 49
The business should have its head office within the defined eligible area set out above. If this is not the case, the entry MUST demonstrate that the enterprise has local autonomy over business planning, marketing, HR and budget within the eligible areas listed above.

My customers are based in Somerset but my business isn’t, do I qualify?
No sadly not. The aim of the Somerset Business Awards is to celebrate Businesses based in Somerset.
Do you cover Bristol & Bath?
No unfortunately not . All businesses entering the awards must be based within the administrative boundaries of Somerset or one of the following North Somerset postcodes:
BA3, BS21, 22, 23, 24, 39, 40, 49
How much will it cost me?
It is free to enter the awards, apart from your time.
Can I apply by post?
No, all applications must be submitted online using our online forms. Postal entries will not be considered.

We will be running a ‘Benefits of Entering’ event on 4th July, to help you learn from past winners and judges and to give you some top-tips about writing an award-winning entry.
Can I enter my business into more than one category?
Yes, you can enter your business into as many categories as you like, providing the category is appropriate and that you can provide the required evidence as detailed in the category criteria to support your entry.
Please note that you will be required to make a separate 800 word application for each award category.
Can I enter again if I've entered before?
Yes, absolutely! All previous applicants and winners are welcome to apply again each year.
Do I need to be a Somerset Chamber member to enter?
No, the awards are open to all Somerset businesses.
What are the key dates I need to know?
30th May – launch event
3rd June – entries open
4th July – ‘Benefits of Entering’ event
23rd August – entries close
3rd-20th September– Judges’ visits
27th September – Ticket sale for finalists
4th October – Ticket sale to general public
25th October – awards ceremony
I've entered... what happens next?
The initial shortlisting process will take place between 23rd – 30th August, after which you will be notified if you have made it through to the next stage.
If your entry passes the first shortlisting process, you will be contacted by one of the judges who will make an appointment to come and visit you at your premises. The visits will take place between 3rd – 20th September so you will need to ensure you are available during this time.
After that, the judges will meet to give careful consideration to all the entries received. You will then be notified if you have or have not been successful in reaching the final shortlist.
If you make it to the final shortlist, you will automatically be invited to the black-tie gala, receiving two free tickets to the night. Additional tickets will be available for purchase in due course. If you are successful in becoming a finalist, you will also be visited by students of Weston College to produce a short 30 seconds film to be shown on the awards evening.
When can I buy tickets for the awards ceremony?
Tickets for the awards go on sale in two different stages: the first is a pre-sale for finalists only. Finalists receive two free tickets and can then purchase up to an additional eight tickets to make a table. This is followed by general sale to the public.
