Calibre of entrants higher than ever for this year’s Somerset Business Awards
Having earned its impressive reputation for celebrating business success within the county, and annually recognising outstanding businesses, employees and working processes, entries for the 2016 Somerset Business Awards are now closed and the calibre of entrants is higher than ever.
With entries from over 100 businesses, more than 70 have entered the Awards for the first time, proving that the popularity and prestige of the Somerset Business Awards continues to increase year on year. Judges now have the important job of reading all the entries and shortlisting the businesses they would like to visit, before selecting their finalists for each of the 14 categories.
Commenting on this year’s entries, Loren Gray, Events Manager from the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, which organises the Somerset Business Awards, said, “With many outstanding entries from right across Somerset, it’s great to see so many new businesses entering. The judges are going to have a tough task ahead of them. We wish everyone the best of luck!”
Shortlisted businesses will be visited by the judges in the coming weeks, and the finalists will be announced at the end of September. Finalists and winners will be celebrated on Friday 21st October at the glittering black tie awards ceremony at Wellsprings Leisure Centre in Taunton, hosted by BBC news presenter, Alex Lovell.
The Awards are sponsored by a variety of companies from the county’s dynamic business community, including main sponsor, Albert Goodman, returning for the sixth consecutive year.
Richard Bugler, Managing Partner of Albert Goodman, said, “Every year we see businesses in Somerset continue to develop and provide valuable growth to the local economy. As main sponsor and a firm deeply rooted in Somerset, we are very proud to support the Awards, which acknowledge the success of great businesses throughout the county.”
