We are delighted to announce Peter Trego, Somerset Cricket all-rounder as the brand new host for the Somerset Business Awards.
Pete played his first senior games for Somerset County Cricket Club in 1997 at the age of just 16. He made his debut for Somerset in 2000, and – against the West Indies in 2002 – he scored a career best of 140 in a match. Throughout his career he has made over 575 appearances, scored over 17,000 runs and has taken over 600 wickets.
As a result of his consistent performances with both bat and ball, Pete has played for the England Lions as well as representing his country in the Hong Kong Sixes in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
In 2012 he took 50 Championship wickets for the first time and recorded his best First Class bowling analysis of 5 for 53 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. Pete’s outstanding achievements earnt him the 2012 English Cricket’s Most Valuable Player Award.
In March 2016 it was announced that Pete would join the new television channel, Insight TV, as a presenter and narrator. He has had a number of television presenting roles, in particular, the Somerset County cricketer took part in a series called, “Beyond the boundary”, an observational documentary about the positive effects of sport in parts of the world with unfortunate social and economic issues.
For the last two years, Pete has been working closely with the Managing Director of DriBuild, Matt Tyler.
