This new award acknowledges the collaboration of private and public partners whose joint work enhances the Somerset economy by providing innovative and sustainable products, solutions or strategies that have identifiable and measurable results.
Judges will be looking for:
- Contribution to the regional and county economy
- Investments from all the public and private resources (financial or in-kind) combined for the collaborative project with emphasis where funds were leveraged or would not have been available if collaboration was not part of the structure
- Enhancement of Somerset’s image at the regional, national or global scales
- Measurements may include reporting of increased jobs, tourism, improved infrastructure, sustainability projections, revenue, cost-savings, etc.

Rachael Brannagan and Jon Beake are Regional Employer Engagement Directors and work with businesses within the region to help them demonstrate their support to the Armed Forces Community. With their help over 400 employers on the South West have pledged their support through the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Wessex Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association (RFCA) is an independent, non-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting the 3000 tri-service Reservists and 14,000 Cadets across the seven counties of the South West (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, the County of Bristol and Gloucestershire), as well as providing support and assistance to the employers of Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
