The prestigious Somerset Business Awards hosted a live periscope session on social media this month, talking through the entry process, answering burning questions and encouraging potential entrants to start their Award applications.
The live stream saw main sponsors, Albert Goodman, award sponsors, Higos Insurance, ADPR and Teapot Creative, and Award organisers, Somerset Chamber of Commerce, join together to promote the importance and benefits of entering the Awards for businesses. Hosted by Albert Goodman, the purpose of the live session was to delve into the Awards in more detail, give top tips on how to impress the judges and maximise Award entries, as well as answering live questions asked by the online audience.
Charles Olney, Head of Marketing and Business Development from Albert Goodman, and judges of the Albert Goodman Family Business Award comments on why businesses should think about entering the awards. He said, “The Somerset Business Awards are a great way to celebrate the fantastic and diverse businesses we have in Somerset. The key to the judging process is to keep it simple and focus on what the judges are actually asking for in the judging criteria. Always back up your claims with evidence, especially proof of strategic success, how your business stands out within the sector, customer focus, leadership and social responsibility. We look forward to meeting our shortlisted entrants in a couple of months’ time!”
Teapot Creative is a new sponsor for 2017, judging the New Business of the Year Award, following their award win for the Business of the Year 11 – 25 employees in 2016. Barry Tottle, Director and Designer at Teapot, comments on the Awards process, saying, “As a business we didn’t win our Award until our third attempt, but this didn’t deter us! Each year was an important learning process and progressively our entry got better and better. It’s a great process for a business to go through and the benefits, even if you don’t win, are endless. We now sponsor the New Business of the Year Award and are looking forward to being on the other side and meeting other businesses!”
The Awards are free to enter for all Somerset based businesses, not just Somerset Chamber of Commerce members and businesses must nominate themselves.
